Salman Khan & Aamir KhanAamir Khan and best friend Salman Khan have yet again joined hands together, for a good cause this time too. A star studded cricket team comprising Bollywood celebrities with the likes of the Dabanng Khan and our Mangal Pandey hit the Brabourne Stadium yesterday for a Twenty-20 Cricket Match against a team of physically disabled but specially-abled team of handicaps who had just one motive in mind: to prove that disability is not a handicap.

Some of the players are bound to calipers, while some stagger with crutches on and some are even amputees. While the world is a much better place to live in, the determination and grit existing between these brave and powerful souls have given them the necessary boost to fight and live a stable life, just like anybody else. Moreover, the team had asked the celebrities not to give them any advantage as it would be unfair to the rules of the game.

The event, titled ‘Junoon’, a Celebrity Charity Cricket Match supported by EVE Foundation (Empowering Villages Everywhere), Cricket Club of India and Rotaract Club of HR College aimed at showcasing the unimaginable and unparalleled hardihood and intestinal fortitude that exists within the brave hearts.  The funds collected as a result of ticket proceeds of the match will be used to provide artificial limbs or prosthetic limbs to the disabled ones who hail from the rural district of Satara in Maharashtra.

Adding on to Salman and Aamir, other Bollywood faces had also joined hands in unity for such a progressive cause. With the likes of familiar faces of  Atul Kulkarni, Sharman Joshi, Sohail Khan and Arbaaz Khan, Prateik Babbar, Rani Mukerji, Aftab Shivdasani, Dilip Joshi, Isha Koppikar, Disha Vankani, Maanav Gohil, H R College principal Dr. Indu Shahani taking the field, the event was star packed and had an earth shattering glam quotient. Plus, an exuberating performance by Shiamak Davar’s extremely talented physically disabled troupe and a Blind Band performance brought in a lot of applause from the crowd. The music, throughout the four hour event was spinned and churned by DJ Shaan. All in all, the event was a much successful one with Bollywood coming together yet another time for a cause that can soon be a trendsetter of sorts.

While the world is considered to be shrinking and a smaller place for the inhabitants to fit in, a few hearts still beat to the tunes of humanity. And when it is Bollywood, it is expected to create quite a stir. But when all of it is for a good cause, one can only stand back and salute all the chivalrous souls which are loaded with mighty power inside them. As of now, the message is loud and clear:
”Defy Gravity. Still be grounded”
