Imran Khan and Anuska SharmaLittle did one know that a cyclone would hit Punjab so miserably that an entire shooting leg for Vishal Bharadwaj’s next would be cancelled! Yes, the weather Gods played it foul this time as a powerful cyclone hit corners of the pind disrupting people’s activities.

Anushka and Imran were coincidentally shooting for their next film with Vishal Bharadwaj, ‘Matru ki Bijlee ka Mandola’ when the twister hit the State and discombobulated the shoot for the film. The typhoon caused a 20 feet tower to break apart and fall on the shooting spot of the film, injuring five of its crew members. Adding to the misery and plight, there was no transport available and the injured crew members had to be carried on the shoulders till they finally got an ambulance to take them to the nearby hospital. One of the crew members was severely injured and two surgeries had to be conducted upon him. The shoot is on hold for the moment. Though our heartthrobs: the dimpled and the naughty Anushka and the innocent yet quirky Imran were present on the sets during the dismay, the duo are safe.

Vishal Bharadwaj, the prolific filmmaker expressed regret and grief on the mishap saying that he is extremely distressed and concerned about the safety and healthy recovery of his unit members.

The film slated for a mid 2012 release revolves around a capricious and erratic man who embarks upon a rustic journey to re unite with his wife and family. The shoot for the movie had started on Valentine’s Day this year and almost 90 percent of the schedule is complete, a source confirms. There are only 14 days of work left and the unit will start shooting once their unit members recover.
